It was December 2020, and my flatmates and I were hosting a Christmas party. I didn’t expect much beyond food, music, and some holiday cheer but then Olalekan walked in as a guest. We struck up a conversation that night, and it felt easy, natural, like we had known each other forever. Over the following weeks, we kept talking. He was thoughtful, kind, and truly intentional in getting to know me. He saw me, really saw me and made me feel completely understood.
I hadn’t planned on much when I attended that Christmas party in 2020. But then I met her. From the first conversation, something just clicked. We talked again and again that week, and with each moment, I discovered more reasons to admire her. She had this effortless way of making every moment feel meaningful. I knew early on that she was someone incredibly special.
By 2021, our friendship had grown into something deeper. We began dating, and since then, it’s been a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and unwavering support. We’re so grateful for that one December evening as it was the beginning of everything. We got engaged in December, and now, in another December, we are tying the knot and saying yes to forever.
